What is the Cardboard Challenge?

The Fishers Cardboard Challenge is inspired by the Global Cardboard Challenge, a world-wide event that happens on Saturday, October 5 where kids harness their creativity to create amazing things with simple materials. Our cardboard challenge is taking place on the same day as the the global event and its goal is to allow kids to creatively play by building whatever they can imagine out of materials like boxes, tape and paper! The Global Cardboard Challenge is inspired by Caine’s Arcade, the amazing story of a young boy who created his own “arcade” by building games out of cardboard boxes. Who can participate?

Children ages 5 to 12 years are invited to come and participate with their parents or adult chaperones, and teenagers are welcome to come assist younger participants as mentors and helping-hands! Everyone can be a part of the fun!

What materials will be provided?

Items such as cardboard boxes (of varying sizes), construction paper, washable markers, tape, and scissors/box cutters will be available for use. Attendees are welcome to bring along additional materials, but it’s definitely not required! NOTE: Scissors and box cutters will be available for parents/adult chaperones to check-out from event staff. Children are NOT permitted to use them without supervision from an accompanying parent or adult.

What else do I need to know?

• All child participants MUST be accompanied by a parent or adult chaperone for the entire time they are participating.
• Snacks and beverages will be provided for participants throughout the event.Feel free to come and go during the event!
• Prior to participating, all parents/adult chaperones must sign a waiver of liability for each child participant in their group. No one without a completed waiver will be able to participate.
