Launch Fishers Cardboard Challenge Wrap-Up

The Launch Fishers Cardboard Challenge, a spin-off of the world-wide event inspired by Caine’s Arcade, the amazing story of a young boy who created his own “arcade” by building games out of cardboard boxes, provided an opportunity for kids to harness their creativity by building things with simple materials.

Children ages 5 to 12 years were invited to come and participate with their parents or adult chaperones, and teenagers were on hand to assist younger participants as mentors and helping-hands. Thanks to our volunteers, sponsors and enthusiastic attendees, mountains of cardboard were converted into clever designs by more than 65 participants, including a vending machine, farm, and London Bridge!

“The Cardboard Challenge event was great for the whole family. My 7 year old made his own Nerf gun with bullets and my 10 year old made a Lego fort with several traps to catch the bad guys. Making things out of recycled materials is a great way to stretch the imagination.” — Dan

Special thank you to Duke Energy, Grainger, and Atlantic Relocation Systems for the donations, and Sara Linginfelter for the wonderful demo on cardboard creations!
