What started as a tiny seed of thought transformed into a real-life idea that has grown rapidly since its birth: Launch Fishers.

The inception of Launch Fishers started a little more than a year and a half ago when founder John Wechsler and Fishers Town Manager Scott Fadness brainstormed a unique idea that solved a pertinent problem in the Town of Fishers: entrepreneurs with no space to create and build their businesses. Fadness and Wechsler knew that businesses could be created in the cramped confines of local coffee shops and restaurants but felt there was a better way for entrepreneurs to get started. They envisioned a place that would serve as a co-working space for entrepreneurs working on startup, high-growth and high-potential enterprises. With the help of many, Launch Fishers was conceived and implemented within an astonishingly short amount of time.

Launch Fishers is located on the first floor of Fishers Public Library and is home to more than 160 companies and over 255 members. The 16,000 square-foot space serves as a launch pad for entrepreneurs. It is fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology, a coffee bar and 20-, 50- and 100-person conference rooms to accommodate events and gatherings for Launch Fishers members and guests.

Launch Fishers is more than just a place to work; it’s a place to collaborate, grow your business, and essentially engage in a community and culture,” said Launch Fishers Executive Director Kurtis Moss.

Home to all types of entrepreneurs and organizations including mobile application development, web application development and design, legal, insurance, marketing, finance, health care and non profit, Launch Fishers offers its members the opportunity to connect and collaborate with like-minded individuals.

Each individual brings something different to the table at Launch Fishers, and that’s what ultimately defines the culture here.

Launch Fishers prides itself on the variety of events it hosts in support of the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem. Noteworthy events in 2013 included Verge, Venture Club of Indiana, Techpoint’s Tech Thursday and Entrepreneur Bootcamps and Formstack’s Build Indy Conference. These events help build the area’s entrepreneurial capacity and provide members with access to a broader network that may ultimately help them build their businesses.

In early October at the JW Marriott, in front of an audience of nearly 800 peers, the Town of Fishers received the Community Achievement Award from the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns for its efforts to nurture entrepreneurs at Launch Fishers.

The Community Achievement Award speaks volumes about what our peer cities and towns think about what we’ve done with Launch Fishers,” said Wechsler.
