Village2Village Project

By Taylor Cutshaw, Launch Fishers Intern

Laurie Kroll, a member of Launch Fishers, is the founder and director of  Village2Village Project. Village2Village Project is more than just a company. Its mission is to provide comprehensive, empowering, respectful and compassionate care for vulnerable children and their families one life at a time.

Laurie and her team are able to help children in Uganda whose parents have been affected by HIV. This project started out of a small church in Vermont with only 30 members who had a goal of helping a few children. Now she has expanded it to members around the world in places that include Singapore, Mexico, Brazil, China, and the U.S., who sponsor a total of about 90 children on two acres of land.

Laurie’s team provides medical care to children, such as vaccines, and medication for diseases that are infecting children like malaria and HIV. With five full-time Ugandan staff members, children are provided with care as well as two meals a day at the center. The children then go home to stay with their extended families.  One little girl who was recently sponsored said, “I used to not know what breakfast looked like until I was sponsored.” Along with the meals and medical services that they provide, they help meet other needs the children have, including clothing, mattresses and schooling–all of which is routed through their budget.

Launch Fishers has helped Village2Village Project in the sense that it gives Laurie a place to work for an affordable cost, so more money is devoted to the children in Uganda. The co-working space has helped Laurie meet new people around Indiana to better network her company, which she hopes to expand into different parts of Uganda once the area becomes more stable.

If you would like to sponsor a child or help advance the mission of Village2Village Project, donations can be made on the Village2Village Project website. Visit her website for more information.
