iOS App Dev Workshop Recap

Josh Brown, Founder and CEO of Roadfire Software, and Randy Edmonds, Founder of AppHands, hosted their first iOS Dev Training app development workshop right here at Launch Fishers this past Saturday, and it was a huge success.

Their class size consisted of 10 people, which was a great number, as they could give plenty of one-on-one attention to each individual. The workshop was intended for developers who wanted to learn to build iPhone apps.

This half-day workshop started with a lecture with visual aids, but it mainly consisted of hands-on experience. Throughout the workshop, Brown and Edmonds worked with the 10 attendees to create an iPhone application.  Besides the lecture slides, they wrote code and projected it so the students could follow suit. By the end of the day, a simple application was created, complete with a couple of interfaces including a list of items and widgets.

Brown and Edmonds enjoyed the face-to-face interaction just as much as their students. Since not a lot of people like learning from books or videos, teaching in a classroom setting where there is live interaction is much more dynamic and informative.

Brown and Edmonds thought of the workshop idea over a year ago and knew that Launch Fishers was the perfect location for it.

“Launch is the reason we finally did this,” said Brown.
