A Passion for the Creative

A Passion for the Creative

Katherine “Katz” Finch is a gallery coordinator who channels her love for the arts in a way that can be appreciated and understood by other artists, residents and visitors in the Fishers community.

Launch Fishers is more similar to art than one may originally think. Artistic expression, creativity, teamwork and sharing are all found in thriving startups, according to Founder John Wechsler, as well as the ecosystem in which they live. When Launch Fishers first opened, Wechsler had an idea to build a community with the local artists in the greater Indianapolis area where they could showcase their recent work and have a place to sell it.

“I wanted Launch Fishers to reflect—in every possible way—the broader community we are serving. Public art is an important part of any thriving community and was designed to be part of Launch Fishers from the very beginning.”

When the Launch Fishers staff met with Katz to discuss the specifics, by the end of the meeting, everyone knew it would benefit everyone involved. So, Katz hit the ground running and has developed a system for rotating fresh and vibrant artwork throughout the space, including not just drawers and painters, but photographers as well. Since the beginning, “old” artwork is switched out for the new, and Katz is responsible for networking and finding the artists.

Art at Launch Fishers is mutually beneficial for the artists and the members who call Launch Fishers home. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it gives a “home away from home” vibe that embraces and complements the human psyche and soul.

“Art brings a refined element to life—things you touch, taste, see, feel and experience. Art enriches someone by simply being present,” said Katz.

Whether you’re a fellow artist interested in displaying your artwork or just a visitor to the area, stroll through the space sometime and admire the work of these talented artists. From the entry hallway and the desk columns to the meeting rooms hallway, the walls are decorated in fanciful colors and liven the Launch Fishers space up in ways only artists know how.

All artwork from the current show, “Of the Earth,” is hanging in Launch Fishers is for sale.
