10 Feb Startup Genome Project
Every startup community needs an entrepreneurial center of gravity. A startup community’s center of gravity is where cofounders meet each other. It’s where angels find investment opportunities. It’s where startups meet journalists and serendipitously get PR. It’s where people who just moved to town go to meet local entrepreneurs. That is what the Startup Genome Project hopes to accomplish for entrepreneurial communities around the country for years to come.
Startup Genome is a worldwide network of volunteer curators creating the most up-to-date and accurate maps of the startup communities in which they live and work. Check out the Startup Genome dataset at startupgenome.com. The company is built on a vision of providing tools and information to startup community builders to better understand their communities.
John Wechsler, founder of Launch Fishers, recently became a curator for the entrepreneurial community in Fishers. Through curating, Wechsler will be able to showcase Fishers’ entrepreneurial community by sharing and embedding local entrepreneurs’ and startups’ community map around the web.
